Tata Motors is preparing to expand its SUV portfolio with four new launches planned for early 2026, covering petrol-powered updates and electric mobility. These upcoming models aim to strengthen Tata’s presence across multiple SUV segments in the Indian market.
Tata Harrier & Tata Safari Petrol Variants
The Tata Harrier and Tata Safari are set to receive petrol engine options, addressing long-standing customer demand. Both SUVs will be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine. This motor is expected to generate 170 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque, while meeting BS6 Phase II emission standards, ensuring a balance of performance and compliance. These refreshed variants will aim to compete with popular rivals such as the Mahindra XUV7XO, Jeep Compass, MG Hector 2026, and Hyundai Alcazar – all strong players in the mid-to-large SUV category.

Tata Punch Facelift

Tata Motors will also introduce a facelifted version of the Tata Punch. The update is expected to focus on design enhancements and feature improvements, while the existing mechanical setup is likely to continue unchanged. This refresh will help keep the Punch competitive in the compact SUV category. It goes head-to-head with other sub-compact rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Tata Nexon.
Sierra Returns, This Time for the Modern Buyer

Few names spark nostalgia like the Sierra, and Tata knows it. The modern Sierra will arrive as a
stylish mid-size SUV positioned between the Nexon and Harrier. It will target buyers looking at
the Creta and Seltos but wanting something different. Modern design, premium interiors and a tech-heavy cabin will be key highlights. It is Tata’s way
of blending legacy with modern expectations.
Sierra EV: Tata’s Electric Power Move

Reviving an iconic nameplate, Tata is working on the Sierra EV, which will join the brand’s growing electric vehicle lineup. The electric SUV is expected to share its rear multi-link suspension and core EV technology with the Harrier EV. The Sierra EV is anticipated to offer a driving range exceeding 500 km, making it a significant addition to Tata’s electric SUV offerings.
What This Means for Tata Motors
With petrol variants of the Harrier and Safari, an updated Punch, and the electric Sierra EV, Tata Motors is positioning itself to cater to evolving customer preferences across fuel types and price segments. These launches highlight Tata’s continued focus on expanding its SUV range in India.
