Renault Bridger Concept compact SUV on road

Renault has officially unveiled the Bridger Concept, which previews a brand new compact SUV that will slot under the upcoming Duster. Intended as a global concept, the design previews a production SUV that should arrive in India around 2027. Designed specifically for emerging markets, the Renault Bridger Concept showcases the brand’s intentions to compete heavily in this sub-4-metre SUV segment. The compact SUV segment of cars in India has seen stiff competition in recent years, with offerings like the Maruti Suzuki Fronx already raising new benchmarks for this category.

Renault India is launching the New Renault Duster 2026 on 17th March, and you can watch the video below for a closer look at the SUV.

Renault will also manufacture the upcoming model in India, as it strengthens its presence in one of the fastest-growing automotive countries in the world. The production version will compete with lifestyle SUVs in India like the Maruti Jimny and other rugged small SUVs once launched.

Renault Bridger Concept Shape and SUV design

The design of the Renault Bridger Concept is bold with an upright profile that underlines its rugged SUV character. Thanks to its squared off wheel arches, sharp body lines and a high ground clearance of around 200 mm, the concept looks muscular despite being a compact size.

The front fascia features wide-set lighting elements that stretch towards the grille, giving the SUV a more modern and aggressive face.  At the rear, there’s a tailgate-mounted spare wheel – which is mostly seen on off-road-focused vehicles. It also adds stronger 18-inch alloy wheels, giving it an even more pronounced road presence.

On the inside, the compact SUV will feature ample space, according to Renault. There’s a good 200 mm of kneeroom for rear passengers, which is quite impressive for any sub-4-metre product. Boot space should be around 400 litres, which will make it practical for both daily commutes and long road trips.

Platform, Powertrain and Expected Launch

The Renault Bridger Concept is based on the brand’s new RGMP modular architecture that will also be used for the next Duster. Depending on the market demand, this architecture will enable multiple powertrain options including petrol, hybrid and fully electric variants.

Sources suggest that a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine with approximately 100 PS along with manual and CVT gearbox may be offered on the production variant. Renault will likely also offer a four-wheel-drive version in some markets for added off-road capability.

The SUV is going to be manufactured at Renault’s facility in Tamil Nadu starting 2027, with prices likely kicking-off from around ₹7 lakh (ex-showroom). Thanks to its rugged styling and practical design, the Bridger could be a solid new contender in India’s growing compact SUV segment.
