Toyota Kirloskar Motor has already lined up an aggressive product push for the Indian market in 2026, especially in the premium three-row SUV segment.

The brand is preparing for two major launches at its end, as the demand for spacious family SUVs is on the rise – the 7-seater version of Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and next-generation Fortuner.

Both models are set to enter closer to the end of 2026 for buyers wanting more practicality, performance and modern tech.

Here’s a closer look at what to watch out for.

7-Seater Toyota Hyryder: Additional Room, Same Fuel Efficiency

The upcoming three-row version of the Hyryder has already been seen testing in India. Expect the usual sharp design language of the standard model, but scaled up with a longer wheelbase and extended rear overhang for that third row. Expect a tweaked version of the SUV’s Global-C platform that will allow for more cabin space without hindering any structural rigidity. It will sit upon a revised version of the Global-C platform that should yield more cabin space without compromising structural rigidity.

Under the hood, the 7-seater Hyryder is expected to retain the existing 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol and a 1.5-litre strong hybrid powertrains. It’ll offer manual and automatic gearbox options. Toyota appears to be adding its AllGrip AWD system, too, for added versatility on different road conditions.

In terms of features, the three-row SUV can receive Level 2 ADAS tech, a larger touchscreen infotainment display, a fully-digital instrument cluster as well as ventilated seats, powered tailgate and premium branded sound system. When launched in the pitched mid-size 7-seater SUV segment, it will sit against some tough competitors including Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700.

Next-Generation Toyota Fortuner: Big Evolution Ahead

The Fortuner will likely be globally unveiled later this year, with rounds of testing already on the new-gen model. The SUV will get Toyota’s new design language, also seen on global models like the Hilux, with slimmer LED headlamps, a bigger grille and a brawnier stance.

The next-gen Fortuner will most likely be developed on Toyota’s updated IMV framework. The proven 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine is expected to be on offer, possibly with a mild-hybrid to enhance efficiency and torque delivery.  We also expect the 2.7-litre petrol engine to carry forward with both manual and automatic transmission options.

Inside the cabin are some significant upgrades will be seen. While speculation suggests that the SUV could come with a new-gen infotainment system, 360-degree camera, digital driver’s display, wireless smartphone charging and a comprehensive ADAS safety suite. Better ride comfort, improved NVH levels and even better off-road capability are also expected.

What This Means for Buyers

These upcoming launches will help Toyota secure its foothold in the premium SUV markets in India. This is targeted at urban families looking for a big dose of fuel efficiency with practicality while the next-gen Fortuner will still target premium buyers who also have their minds on rugged capability paired to modernistic luxury.

If you’re considering an upgrade to a three-row SUV in 2026, Toyota’s next line-up is definitely one worth the wait.
